Step 1: Check if your organization is already registered

1. Go to the Department of Consumer Protection website:
   https://www.elicense.ct.gov/

2. Scroll down to “Look Up a License.”

3. In the License Type drop-down menu, select Charity.

4. Search for your VFW Post, District, or Auxiliary.

If your organization does not appear in the search results:

Step 2: Start a new application

1. Return to https://www.elicense.ct.gov/

2. Select Initial Application.

3. If you don’t have an account, click “Don’t have an account? Register.”

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.

Step 3: Gather required information
You will need:

• Your EIN number and proof of non-profit status from the IRS:
  https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/

• Your business entity information from the State of Connecticut:
  https://service.ct.gov/business/s/onlinebusinesssearch?language=en_US

Step 4: Wait for approval
Once your application is submitted, approval typically takes 3–5 business days.
