DESCRIPTION:14th Annual Hike to Remember Press Release \nOn September 19th\, the Peter P Monaco Jr. Detachment 40 will hold their 14th Annual Hike to Remember. \n“Hike To Remember XIV on Saturday\, September 19th\, 2026\, in Glastonbury\, Connecticut. Veterans and current service members of all branches are invited to join us. All hikers and participants will meet at the Veterans Hall of Glastonbury at 4:30 AM and will step off for a 22-kilometer hike through Glastonbury starting and ending at our building located at 980 Chestnut Hill Rd\, South Glastonbury 06073. \nWe believe that uniting Veterans and service members from all areas and walks of life is the most important aspect to combating Veteran suicide. We all served for the common good of our nation. Each year’s Hike is designed to join the forces\, support the fight to end Veteran suicide\, and support Veterans as well their families in times of need. We encourage anyone who has served to join us and participate in our 22-kilometer hike. Friends\, family and/or any supporters are welcome to join us all for this community event. We will provide anyone who has served with a network of fellow service members who they can turn to\, especially if they find themselves facing difficult times. Our goal is always to inspire camaraderie\, support\, and lasting relationships. \nThis year’s goal for this year is to have 250 hikers registered and to raise $30\,000\, all to strengthen the Veteran community by continuing to build support networks and provide resources for those in need. Please join us at the Glastonbury Center Fountain at the intersection of Hebron Ave and Main St at 9:50 AM to see the hikers walk through town and at the Veterans Hall of Glastonbury at 980 Chestnut Hill Rd at 11:45 AM to welcome us back at the finish line. DESCRIPTION:NEW HAVEN\, CONN. —The 2024 City of New Haven Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at New Haven City Hall  (165 Church St\, New Haven\, CT 06510) on Monday\, November 11\, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. All residents and the public are invited to attend this free event. \nConductor Philip Boulanger will lead Music Haven’s Harmony In Action Orchestra and the Connecticut Minuteman Composite Squadron from the Civil Air Patrol will be the color guard. Soloist Ruth Rosa will sing the National Anthem and Peter Cannon will perform “Taps.” \nFollowing the ceremony at City Hall\, commemorative wreaths will be placed at the World War Memorial on the Green and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Long Wharf Drive. \n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Veterans and a guest are invited for a free breakfast on Veterans Day. \n\nHONORING ALL WHO SERVED: Veterans\, service members\, and cadets may get a free serving of coffee\, home fries\, and SOS over biscuit or sausage patty at the Trinity Bar & Restaurant (157 Orange St. New Haven) on Monday\, November 11\, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. \nSponsored by Trinity and organized by the VFW New Haven Post 12150 and the American Legion New Haven Post 210\, the SOS breakfast will honor our military veterans by offering them a serving of the popular military breakfast staple–free of charge. Celebrated Trinity Chef and Co-Owner Shane Carty and Master Sgt. Frank Alvarado (Ret)\, will prepare the SOS gravy based on the 1942 edition of The Army Cook (TM 10-405). \nThe breakfast is open to military veterans\, current service members\, and cadets (especially at UNH\, Yale\, and Hillhouse High School JROTC) and one guest. Additionally\, veterans and citizens are invited to attend the City of New Haven Veterans Day Ceremonies at 11:00 a.m. at New Haven City Hall (165 Church St\, New Haven\, CT 06510) with a subsequent wreath-laying ceremony at the Great War Flagpole on the Green. \n  \n
